What is rhassoul exactly?
It is a brown clay, originated in Morocco. It contains amazing minerals for your hair: magnesium, calcium, iron, zinc, phosphore, sodium, lithium and potassium, amongst others.
Like most clays, it has the ability to absorb impurities.
But rhassoul is particularly efficient when it comes to extracting oil.
Which is why it works amazingly on hair with a tendency to get greasy.
Finally, one of the most stunning properties of rhassoul is the volume it gives to your hair over a long period of time.
How do I prepare rhassoul?
Just add water to rhassoul powder. The quantity of rhassoul depends on you hair length but three tablespoons should be enough for mid-length hair. Mix until you get a paste. It should be easy to apply to your hair but not too liquid.
Let it sit for 5 minutes before applying on damp hair.
For normal to dry hair:
Add one tablespoon of argan oil to your rhassoul paste. Apply on your hair for 15 minutes and rinse off. If you have split ends, avoid applying it on the tips.
For dry hair:
Apply coconut oil on your hair and leave it on all night (don’t forget to cover your pillow with an old T-shirt or a small towel). In the morning, prepare your rhassoul mixture and apply thoroughly to your hair and skull. Leave it on for 20 to 30 minutes. Adapt the application time according to how dry your hair is.
If necessary, follow with a gentle organic shampoo.
For greasy hair:
Rhassoul will do wonders on greasy hair. Not only will it regulates the sebum regulation on the long term, it will also give you some unexpected bounce and volume.
If your hair really gets greasy, you do not need additional oil to start with. Just apply the rhassoul mixture and let it sit for 15-20 minutes. If your hair is still greasy after that, you can leave it on longer. Once your hair starts regulating, you can add some vegetable oils to your rhassoul mixture: jojoba, and hazelnut oils are particularly recommended for combination hair.
Will Rhassoul wash my hair?
Yes, absolutely! It will absorb impurities as well as oil, leaving your hair squeaky clean when it’s rinsed off.
If your hair still feel greasy after the rinse, it means you did not let it sit long enough. Just use a gentle shampoo or repeat the application.
And that’s not it…
Rhassoul is also known for its amazing properties on the skin. It is said to reduce sebum secretion, soften the skin, remove dead cells, tightens the pores, clarifies and improves the skin’s elasticity. Keep some of the rhassoul mixture and apply to your face (5 minutes) to kill two birds with one stone!
